Wearing Hats or Helmets Causes Hair Loss

Cycling is my passion! Every morning, I’d put on my helmet and hit the trails, feeling the wind on my face. But I always remembered what my dad used to say: “Careful with that helmet, or you’ll go bald like me!”
Let’s clear this up:
Hair loss usually comes from genetics, hormones, or certain health issues—not your helmet or hat. So, whether you're protecting your head or just wearing a cool hat, your hair is safe.
There is something called traction alopecia, which happens when hair is pulled too tightly for a long time, but a well-fitting hat or helmet won’t cause this.
If you’re noticing hair thinning, it’s better to look at genetics or health factors, not your headgear. Got questions or need tips? Let’s talk in the comments or send me a message. Let’s bust these hair myths together!
